About the Academy!
.
The Academy of Our Lady of Guam is an Archdiocesan Catholic High School for young women located in Hagatña, Guam. The academy was established in 1949 and graduated its first class in 1953.  The school celebrated its Golden Anniversary in 1999.  More than six thousand alumnae empowered spiritually, intellectually, socially, emotionally, morally, and physically for the challenges of adult life passed through the portals of the Academy.

Academy is a safe and nurturing place and the dedicated and seasoned faculty and staff provide a high level of personal attention to complement the excellent education that is a hallmark of its history and legacy for the future.

The Academy students are known for their scholastic accomplishments.  Many are accepted at the best United States colleges and Universities such as Harvard, Yale, MIT, University of Pennsylvania, University of Chicago, University of Notre Dame, University of America, Georgetown University, and Oxford University in England.  As a result of high academic performance at the Academy, graduates have been recipients of various scholarships offered by the colleges of their choice.  These include Honors Scholarships, Trustee Regents Scholarships, and the President’s/Dean’s Scholarship.  The Academy students have been National Merit Scholarship Semi-Finalist and Finalists awardees, Presidential Scholars, and recipients of the University of Guam Merit Scholarship.

Many Academy students have received high scores in the PSAT and SAT. Students frequently place first in areas such as Math section, interscholastic competitions, Oratorical Contest, Mock Trial, and the National Forensic League Debate.

The Academy helps young women discover and develop what they are best at through a variety of classes, organizations, clubs, co-curricular activities, and athletics programs.  Whether a student is athletic or artistic, shy or outgoing, she has special opportunities to learn, grow, and enjoy life at the Academy.

Clubs and organizations offer students a chance to pursue interests and extend activities beyond the classroom.  These are labs to hone leadership skills.  From French Club to organizations whose central point is scholastic development, from specific ethnic interest to the National Honor Society, the Academy student organizations serve a wide variety of interests.
