Academy of Our Lady Exemplifies the Spirit of Giving To enliven the annual tradition of the spirit of giving, the Academians gathered for a Thanksgiving Liturgy on Wednesday, November 21st at the Dulce Nombre de Maria Cathedral Basilica. Presentation of the gifts included boxes of non-perishable items that were donated to Kusinan Kamalen Karidat to give back to the |

Academians Participate in Fighting for the Cure
In honor of breast cancer awareness month, Academy’s chapter of the Future Educators Association (FEA) felt that it was imperative that awareness of this predominantly female disease be advocated for to the student body. After all, Academy of Our Lady of Guam is an all-girls Catholic school, and the topic is especially relevant to its student body. |
|
While it is FEA’s mission to promote education through school, FEA realizes that it is just as important to spread education through any means possible. |
| By setting up a table in the cafeteria at lunch during the last week of October, FEA members were able to distribute information packets on breast cancer to the students and educate them about the disease. By accepting monetary donations, FEA was able to raise a modest amount of revenue for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation. |

| The Academy of Our Lady Prays for Peace |
| On September 12, 2007, the Academy of Our Lady High School held a prayer service for peace throughout the world and in memory of those fallen from the 9/11 tragedy. Peace prayers from the various faiths were offered for our “global village” of countries suffering from political conflicts, terrorism, abuses, and ethnic and racial conflicts. Candles were lit as a summary of |
 |
each faith was read and prayers from each faith recited and sung. Closing the prayer service, Dean of Students, Lou Babauta, reminded the students that “recognizing the need for love, peace and forgiveness extends beyond the walls of Christianity and extends throughout the world.” Before singing |
|
the final prayer song, “Let There Be Peace On Earth”, students were also reminded that peace first has to begin within each of them. |
